CDFL opens 2010 with 1st tryout of the year on Feb. 21

All players, coaches, staff, media, scouts and recruiters are strongly encouraged to attend the first CDFL workout of 2010. The tryout will be held on Sunday Feb. 21 from 1-3 pm at the CDFL head quarters the Saint Sports Complex, 115 Torne Valley Rd Hillburn NY 10931.

Admission to the event is $25 per athlete. The tryout will be on the main field outdoors, and will consist of testing, position specific drills, 7 on 7 competition, lineman challenges and information on the upcoming season’s schedule and layout.

Registration for the 2010 CDFL season will be held 12/21 and 12/23/ 2009, 5-7 pm at St Lawrence Sports complex. The tentative format for next season is as follows:

Mandatory CDFL Tryout/ Practice begins. This includes jersey sizing for custom personalized jersey for 2010 season. ( all Veterans and rookies must attend) . The CDFL has Officially closed its Elite team season for the fall of 2009 due to a lack of opponents. The team finished 3-2 in its inaugural game schedule and advanced to the semi finals of the Gridiron Elite Winter Tournament. Players will have a brief time- off before returning to training for the second league season of the CDFL in 2010. Open tryouts for the CDFL will begin in January 2010 and continue monthly with clinics, 7 on7 shootouts and individual player workouts.

CDFL Elite drops 24-12 to Demon Knights in Tournament

The CDFL took a hard fought loss at the hands of the Demon Knights of Long island in an opening roud game of the gridiron elite tournament on Suday 11/8/09. The CDFL led 12-6 entering the 4th quarter. The CDFL was led by the scoring of Tyrone Landrum and strong defensive play from Anthony Vechione, Jordan Polite, Herbie Mann and Jarid Valenti. The leading rushers for the CDFL were David Telesco and Terrel Burnett. The tournament continues on Sunday 11/15/09 with a game at home vs the New York Syn at 6pm

The CDFL Elite season continues over the next few weeks as the team will represent the CDFL in the,” Gridiron Elite Winter Football tournament” , held annually in New York. The CDFL will face the well established and first class organization the Empire State Demon Knights. The game will be held on Sunday 11/8/09 at 6 pm in Hillburn, New York at the Joseph T. St . Lawrence Sports Complex. The following are the game match-ups for the tournament.

The CDFL Elite will practice Thursday 11/5/09 at 8 :45 pm on the main field in Hillburn. The practice is open to the public and we encourage anyone interested in learning more about the CDFL to stop by.

CDFL takes first loss, 31-27 in Massachusetts

The CDFL Elite lost a tough, hard hitting football game to the combined teams of the Mill City Maulers, New England Hawks and Lowell Noreasters of the Metro Division of the NEFL. It was a surprise match-up to say the least, as 24 CDFL players made the 4 hour trip to face a team of 60 triple AAA level semi-pro players. The game opened with 2 quick scores by the Mass. team before Anthony Carillo hit Willie Calhoun with a 24 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to bring the score to 14 -7 . Ty Landrum returned the opening second half kick-off 83 yards to close the margin to 14-13 . Following a Mass. score, Anthony Carillo hit wide-out Nick Perez on a quick slant ,which Nick motored into a 42 yard TD, making the score 21-19 . Mass answered in the fourth quarter with 10 points but the CDFL closed out the scoring with another kick-off return for a TD by Ty Landrum and a 2 point catch by Malcolm Lee.

Defensively the Elite were lead by linebacker Jarid Valenti with 8 tackles and an interception. Safety Andre Mallard also had a key interception. David Telesco played outstanding at linebacker with 6 tackles. Terrell Burnett, who had a punt return called back, answered on defense with big hits throughout the game. Mike Muise anchored the defensive line with 6 tackles and played ironman football on both sides off the line all day. Ryan Jones, Lawrence Coe and Olsen St. Louis battled on both the offensive and defensive lines against large fronts. Ty Landrum senior added experience to match the opponents and gave the CDFL elite on-field leadership throughout the game.

The next game for the CDFL is set as part of the Gridiron Elite winter Tournament, for Sunday 11/8/09 at home ,6 pm start. Practice will take place on Thursday evening at 8 :45 pm and is open to the public.

The CDFL Elite team will attempt to remain undefeated in the 2009 season vs. the Mill City Maulers of the NEFL top AAA League on Sunday 11/1/09 12:30 kick-off in Lawrence, Mass.

The following players have attended practice and /or confirmed with the coaches that they will be on the week 4 roster. Any CDFL player who will be attending the game and is not listed must email coach Saint at playCDFL@gmail.com to confirm attendance and get itinerary for the game . The CDFL elite team will assemble at 7 am on Sunday at the team headquarters in Hillburn for departure. The team has made arrangements for a 15 passenger van to transport players. The CDFL Elite team will hold a mandatory practice Thursday 10/29/09 at 8:45pm on the main field in Hillburn NY . This upcoming game vs the Maulers will be the toughest challenge yet for the CDFL Elite as the Maulers have recently completed a successful season in the top level division AAA of the NEFL. All players need to confirm attendance to practice and the game via email to playCDFL@gmail.com prior to practice on Thursday 10/29/09. The following is hotel info for players who want to stay over ( See end of this posting), all other players will meet at the CDFL headquarters in Hillburn, New York at 7:00 am sharp for departure. Bring paperwork and fees to practice.

In addition, registration continues for the upcoming Scouting Combine to be held on Jan24, 2010 in Mobile, Alabama. Also registration has begun for the 2010 CDFL regular season, Player discounts are available for early registration. All new players are invited to attend practice on Thursday 10/29, due to the high interest in in CDFL, roster spots for 2010 are going to be limited, so register early. All new players who have contacted the CDFL are invited to attend tonight and can register with Coach G. Saint at the practice.

The hotel is less than 2 mile away from the field and we strongly encourage all players to stay at this hotel. All fans and players are welcome to stay in the hotel. Special room rate of $68 plus tax inclusive of full hot breakfast buffet. The rooms are Suites and include 1 Queen Bed and 1 Full Size Pull-Out Sofa bed. These are two rooms that are separated by a door for privacy. Maximum Occupancy per suite is 4.
