The CDFL is hosting  an “open invite” 7 0n 7  football tournament on Sunday August 1, 2010  at the Joseph St. Lawrence Sports Complex, Home of the CDFL, 115 Torne Valley Road , Hillburn, New York.  Player registration and on field warm-up  begins  at 4:30 pm.  Player placement/team draft begins at 5:15.  Tournament Games begin at 5:45 pm.   Tournament will be Televised on the Verizon channel 32 beginning at 6 :30 pm.  Current CDFL players participate for free.  All new players have a registration fee of $20  Players will be  evaluated for the CDFL Fall Elite Team as part of the tournament.  All 18-24 year old players are invited as individuals or as teams.  Bring your  equipment and friends .  Tournament is sponsored by Muscle Milk and CDFL logo  merchandise will be available for purchase.

Congratulations to the Nighthawks on thier 7-6 victory last Sunday vs the Rattlers.  The Rattlers Adrian Kot opened the scoring with a 45 yard touchdown pass from Bobby Mangano in the 4th quarter.  On the following possession, the Nighthawks answered  with a 54 yard pass from Tarel Lawrence to Billy Di Diego.  This set-up a 4 yard touchdown run by Steve Washington to tie the score with 22 seconds remaining.  Mike Georgetti added the game winning extra point to close out the game.

The CDFL will open season 2 on Sunday 7/11/2010 as the  Westchester Nighthawks face the Rockland  Rattlers at the St. Lawrence Sports complex in Hillburn New York .   Kick-off is scheduled  for 6:30 pm.

All players are required to attend league assignment day on THURSDAY July 8, 2010 from 4:30 -6 pm at the St. Center in Hillburn.  Equipment sizing ,game jerseys, player photos, and player agreement / final registration fees will be handled.   At  6 pm the players will  depart for a 7 on 7 / full scrimmage vs NJ Hawks in Palisades park NJ beginning at 7 pm.

Breaking news just confirmed–All CDFL games will be televised on Verizon public access channel for the second year in a row up and down the East coast.

The tryouts/practices will  will consist of testing, position specific drills,  7 on 7 competition, lineman challenges.  All CDFL players veterans and rookies are expected to attend . 
Returning players must return all CDFL helmets for reconditioning for upcoming season.

Registration for the 2010 season is officially open !!!!!  IMPORTANT NOTE: This season  players will be assigned  teams following  the BSN/CDFL Combine  (see schedule below).

Due to the large player interest in the CDFL for this season all roster slots will be filled on  an evaluation  and first come first serve basis.     The 2010 league player participation fee has been reduced  by 24% from last season to $495 for this year.  Thank you to our new league sponsors for this cost savings past on to our players !!!

At the conclusion of the Orange Spirit’s 2009 CDFL Championship win over the Bergen Bears, Ty Landrum Jr. was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. He has recently signed to play professional ball overseas for the Warsaw Eagles of the Polish American Football Association (PLFA). Project manager for the Eagles Ian Wilcock recently sent the following comments describing the team’s first impression of Landrum.

“First of all I would like to say what a personable, likeable gentleman he is. He is a credit to you and we are proud to have him playing in the Eagles colours.
Secondly to the game, what can I say, he is an out and out ball player of exceptional speed and skills. The full stats will be out soon and I will send the link, but in summary the highlights are:

40 yard TD catch and run on a receiver screen
4 yard TD catch and run on a receiver screen – he actually covered around 30 yards sideline to sideline
77 yard TD on a punt return.
