Dan O’Keefe

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana senior safety Dan O’Keefe is a 2011 Preseason Football All-America selection by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) and the D2vsNAIA Senior Bowl selection committee.

O’Keefe was named to the first team defense. In June he was chosen to the 2011 Consensus Draft Services Preseason All-America second team.

The D2vsNAIA Senior Bowl is a post season all-star football game showcasing the talent of senior players from NCAA Division 2 and the NAIA. The game is presented by the CDFL and is scheduled for December 3, 2011, in the New York City metro area.

Player selection for the game begins with the announcement of the D2vsNAIA Senior Bowl All-America team. The team recognizes the football achievements of senior players who are entering their final season. The selection committee will review player performances throughout the 2011 season and will invite 40 players per level to compete in a challenge game.

“We are proud to present the inaugural D2vs.NAIA Bowl,” said founder Peter St. Lawrence. “This is one of our three post season scout bowl games which serve to promote and showcase the exceptional talent found on the collegiate level beyond the BCS. It is a game for senior players to be recognized for their career achievements and gain exposure to professional scouts.”

O’Keefe was an All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division first team selection a year ago and picked up All-Central Region first team and All-America honorable mention honors from the Don Hanson Football Committee. He registered 57 tackles, had six interceptions, and recovered two fumbles as the Vikings logged a school record 11 wins. Augustana led the NSIC in total defense.

In 2010, Augustana earned a share of the NSIC South Division title and made its first playoff appearance since 1989. The Vikings also hosted and won their first playoff game by defeating Grand Valley State on Nov. 27. Augustana lost to eventual national champion Minnesota Duluth and finished the campaign with an 11-2 record.

CDFL management has recently returned from Poland  with the announcement that the CDFL has  reached  an agreement with a group representing  Polish  Football  to sponsor a Scout game for European teams seeking American players.  The game will be played in Warsaw, Poland.  The CDFL will be the exclusive provider of American players for this game.  Details will be released tonight for all  attending the Mini-Camp,  an official Press Release will follow with a launch of an additional website.

“The CDFL will begin its third season with a series of tryouts beginning in April and culminating with a 4- day mini-camp prior to the 2011 CDFL Scout Bowl to be played on Saturday July 9th”.  Peter St . Lawrence, President  and founder of the CDFL, announced this yesterday, at a press conference in Ramapo , New York.

Player invites will be based upon tryout results, past player participation, and submitted player registration/scouting tapes for league review.  The Scout Bowl players evaluations,combine results and Scout Bowl game DVD will be will be distributed to 178 collegiate football programs directly affilated with the CDFL

Interested players, in the age range of 18- 24 year old are eligible and must register on line at www.playcdfl.com to receive a game information  packet.  The CDFL is presently accepting all players highlight tapes , game tapes, DVD’s, transcripts, combine results , etc for a free evaluation by the Bowl selection committee.  Mail these to the  CDFL, PO Box 38, Southfields, New York,10975

Attention  entrepreneurs – The CDFL is seeking  football people who want to establish a CDFL in their area.  Territorial charters for expansion in 2011 are now available.  Contact the CDFL if you are interested
All players, coaches, staff, media, scouts and recruiters are
strongly encouraged to attend the upcoming CDFL practices/ tryouts/ 7 on 7 . 
 
Registration and information on the upcoming season’s schedule will be
provided.
Next CDFL workout is  Sunday 5/22/11 at 7 pm Torne Valley field
The upcoming and remaining CDFL practices/ tryouts will be at the main field at  7:00pm – 9:00pm on the CDFL turf field and bubble located at theTown of Ramapo Sports Complex, 115 Torne Valley Rd Hillburn NY 10931.
The tryout will  will consist of testing, position specific drills,
7 on 7 competition, lineman challenges.  All CDFL players veterans and
rookies are expected to attend .  Returning players must return all CDFL helmets for reconditioning for upcoming season.
 
Athletes are required to bring a registration fee of
$25 per athlete, a photo ID for age verification , any game video for
evaluation purposes, cleats , sneakers, shorts and a t- shirt.

 IMPORTANT NOTE:This season   players will be assigned to teams following each tryout /practice session (see schedule below) for the Scout Bowl on July 9 We will have the mini- camp leading up to the Scout Bowl !!!!.Due to the large player interest in the CDFL for this season allroster slots will be filled on an evaluation,  and official invite, player commitments will be on a first come first serve basis.
 The 2011 league player participation fee has been reduced  from last season .  Thank you to our league sponsors for this cost savings past on to our players !!!
