The CDFL Elite remained undefeated with a 39-0 victory over the scrappy, hard -hitting , never quit, Bronx Rebels. The CDFL was led by an explosive quick strike offense and stingy defensive effort . The contributions were numerous from a host of players. Offensively, CDFL Quarterbacks Anthony Carrillo and Colin Doyle were a tough duo with each throwing a TD pass in the Game. Running Backs, Mike Grey, David Telesco, Steve Washington and Jamel Lynd carried the rushing chores. Multi-purpose back and WR, Tyrone Landrum opened the game with a 62 yard TD run on the second play of the game. Lawrence Coe followed with a 32 yd field goal on the next drive to extend the CDFL lead to 9-0, Randy Burnett added a 37 yard punt return after the CDFL pinned the Rebels on thier own 1 yard line. The ever versatile, Tyrell Burnett scored 2 touchdowns on the night ( 1rec, 1 rush) Jon Coppage also scored on a 29 Td reception in the second quarter. The receiving corp was led by Willie Calhoun , Nick Perez and Malcolm Lee. Special mention for the outstanding efforts of the O-Line with Ryan Jones, Mike Muise, Matt Patterson, Brandon Hayward, David Tyrell , and Olsen St. Louis.
Defensively,Jarid Valenti anchored the Defense with 8 tackles and DE Jimmie Pierre had his best game in a 3 sack performance. Dl play was led by Brandon Hayward who made 2 key 3td down plays to end Rebel scoring drives. Herbie Mann, Gerald Merald and Jordan Polite each added 6 tackles on the night. Steve Washington, DB, returned an INT for a score in the second quarter. Patrice Desire also had an interception. Randy Burnett, CB, ran down a potential breakaway touchdown with his pure speed and hustle. Andre Mallard, Rasheen Glashin, TJ Caleca and Lamont Brown anchored the secondary throughout the game. Rashaun Rawles added 4 tackles and a sack from his DE position.
The CDFL salutes the sportsmanship, and grit displayed by the Rebels throughout the game. Coach Maxwell has a classy group and we wish all the Rebel players good luck as the season progresses. Both teams honored the great game of football in front of a crowd of 400. in Hillburn , NY. The CDFL will be at home next Sunday (10/18/09) vs the Conn. Ravens of the New England Football League at 6 pm .
