The Orange Spirit wins the 2009 CDFL Championship!

In a classic rematch of  CDFL  titans, the Orange Spirit defeated the previously undefeated  Bergen Bears , 20 -8   to capture the first ever  Prestige Graphics  CDFL championship.   The Spirit jumped out to a 20-0 halftime edge with a  first quarter 1 yd touchdown run from Bobby Mangano.  Early in the second quarter,  Spirit quarterback Ty Landrum  eluded the Bears defenders down the left sideline for a 32 yd touchdown, Niko Rechul added the PAT for a 13-0 lead.  The Spirit closed the first half  scoring with a fumble recovery in the end zone by Jermaine Thomas.  The Bears battled back,  in a second half dominated with bone crushing hits, to score on a 4th quarter 58 yd touchdown pass from Gerald Merald to Mike Fernandez .

In the consolation game, the Westchester Nighthawks scored an overtime victory over the Rockland Rattlers behind the passing of  quarterback  Anthony Carillo.  Carillo connected on a 20 yd touchdown pass to Elliot Rhodes on the first play of overtime to seal a 13-7 victory.
